En la pagoda Swedagon en Yangón por las tardes la gente se reúne para rezar y ver el atardecer desde esta colina llena de estupas. El ambiente es de gran espiritualidad y te encuentras muchos monjes meditando.
El lago Inle me parece el lugar con las nubes más impresionantes y blancas que he visto, y, además, cultivan encima del agua, sobre los jacintos. Son como jardines flotantes de tomateras, calabazas etc. Utilizan como abono las propias algas que tiene el lago.
Hicimos coincidir nuestro viaje con una fiesta con la que celebran el final de la Cuaresma Budista y que también llaman la Fiesta de las Luces. Es una fiesta muy curiosa, con unas barcas muy largas, con música y los hombres remando con la pierna. Van recorriendo, a manera de procesión, a los distintos pueblos del lago y por las noches con farolillos de papel donde ponen una vela que el calor hace ascender.
Después del lago lo que más me ha impresionado es Bagán, porque es una llanura de tonalidades verdes, que contrasta con las más de 2.500 pagodas (templos) y estupas, la mayoría en ladrillo rojo. Cuando subes a un templo o pagoda y ves tantas en el horizonte, te quedas sin palabras. Es el antiguo Reino de Pagán, que impresionó a Marco Polo y Kublai Kan (la conquistó pero no destruyó nada) y ahora es Patrimonio de la Humanidad.
